Tds on contract u/s 194c
Payments made for civil construction work relating to environmental development , forest development, etc through eco development committees (EDCs).
EDCs are bodies registered with forest dept. and are mainly constituted with local villagers. No TDS is being deducted on such payments made to EDCs. Whether TDS should be deducted u/s 194c on such payments.

TDS is not applicable on the payment made to govt departments, bodies registered under govt departments.
