My client is getting steel scrap converted into brass road through job worker under contract. The clinet is deducting TDS (contractors) only on amount of material received. Is TDS required to be deducted on Excise duty and cess thereon taken into book as cenvat credit?
Please clarify with supporting notifications, etc.

yes U S sharma is absolutly right.....
TDS should be deducted on labour exp held, not on material purchased
thus its absolutly wrong to deducte TDS on Excise duty and cess of material purchased
