Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) liability concerning salary payments. The key point is that the £250,000 threshold for TDS on salary is considered *after* applying the standard deduction of £50,000 and any other applicable deductions or rebates. Therefore, if an individual's total salary, after these deductions, falls below £250,000, TDS will not be required.

If after std deduction salary amount is less than 5L then no tds is required to be deducted.

In your case TDS won't be applicable as you are saying total salary is below 2.5 Lakhs.

The ceiling limit is after reducing standard deduction, any other deduction for investment (80C,80D etc.) and after taking into account the rebate u/s 87A
