A person is supplying both exempt and taxable goods.
He's also covered under composition scheme..
So, does he have to pay 1% tax on the exempt part as well

Right.... He is not required to pay tax on exempt supply.
Pay tax only taxable supply.
As per my reading,
A person is not eligible for registration under composition scheme if he is making even a single transcation of supply of exempted goods.
Please excuse if the answer is not appropriate.
Only on taxable supply now @ 1% as per last gst council meeting.... Earlier it was on total turnover including exempted turnover
Right it's letest amendment.
@ Mansi mam... Where is is written that person can't opt composition scheme if he is dealing also in exempted supply... That is for he can't make interstae outward taxable supply... Earlier composition dealer is issue that he has to pay 1% tax on total turnover including exempted turnover which is sort out in last gst council meeting.... Earlier government has not clarification about that... Now they give 1% only on taxable turnover
I had mentioned that is why excuse me if the answer is appropriate because i was not sure for the answer.
I had read this amendment still wasn't sure of the answer.
I am also asking that where u read that provision... That restriction is nowhere mentioned... Only restrictions is can't sell interstate or online sale by a composition dealer or service provider can't opt composition scheme
