Quick Summary
This discussion addresses the tax implications of goods shipped overseas and subsequently returned to India. The core question is whether import tax is payable on these returned items, especially when no tax was paid initially. It also explores how to facilitate the return of these goods without incurring taxes and clarifies the process, comparing it to a sales return. The query also touches upon the customs department's requirement for a letter from the GST office confirming the tax-exempt status of the items.

Is it just like sales return or returned to India after processing outside India ?

in customs they are asking a letter from gst office for the confirmation of without paying tax item. Is it correct?
