you have to apply online filling the form through "tin-nsdl.com" web site paying through credit card & then take a print out of the duly filed form, attached the photograph, & identity & address proof & sing it at two places & sit it to nsdl, mumbai through couier.

& therefore your can see after two three days in the same web site whether pan card alloted or not.

this is the fastest way to apply pan. Mostly recd. within 5 days if there is no discripancies.

5 days is very long time,it should be on Real time basis.

i have apply for pan card through nsdl . my acknowledgement no. is 881020122816971.

and i have send related ducument to the mumbai address, but i not recevied pan card .

i have applied pan card on dated 12 day ago(24/04/2014).

how i know my pan card is issued or not

Very min. of 12 days and max. of 21 days if every papers/annexures are in order and correct.  It make wont differ if you apply online or throu' NSDL intermediary.

applying on line is costly as besides 100 or so you have to spend courier charges also and process shall be started only when the courier is recd. by the PAN-NSDL office.

That great scheme for immediate PAN card , but whats its practically possible? , if yes then its very good thing :)
