We forgot to obtain TAN for one of our company. The last date to deposit the tax is 31st May. Although we have applied TAN. But in absence of TAN how we can pay the due TDS. Is there any remedy

i think there is no other way to wait for allottment of TAN No. to deposit & file return
if anybody have different opinion please guide.. it is very intresting scenario.

You cann't deposit TDS without having TAN. You will have to wait for the same but there is a relief recently given in finance act 2008 by amending section 40(a), if TDS is relating to March month, you can deposit the same before due date of filing of IT return, but you have to deposit it with interest, if you have not paid till May 31st. but your expenses will be allowed.
You cann't deposit TDS without having a valid TAN. You will have to wait untill u r alloted a TAN which takes usually 10 days. You will also have to pay interest @ 12% p. a. on the delay for payment from the date of deduction. TDS relating to March can be deposited upto the due date of filing of return and the expenses will not be disallowed u/s 40(a)(ia)
