In your case, since the TAN registration request is linked to a PAN holder who is no more, and the registration is still pending approval, here’s what you can do:

1. Cancellation of Pending TAN Registration:
   Unfortunately, the portal does not provide an option to cancel a pending TAN registration request by yourself once it is submitted. It will not get automatically cancelled after 24 hours.

2. Contact NSDL/TIN Facilitation Centre:
   You should immediately contact the NSDL-TIN Facilitation Centre (the agency handling TAN registrations) and inform them about the situation. They can manually cancel or reject the pending registration.

3. File a New Registration with Correct PAN:
   After cancellation/rejection of the pending request, you can apply afresh for TAN registration with the correct PAN.

4. Raise a Grievance on e-Filing Portal:
   You can also raise a grievance ticket on the Income Tax e-Filing portal explaining the issue and request cancellation of the pending TAN registration linked with the old PAN.

5. Call TIN Helpline:
   Toll-Free Number: _________ (available from 9 AM to 6 PM) for faster resolution.

Summary: Pending TAN registration will NOT cancel automatically. You need to get in touch with NSDL or e-Filing support to get the incorrect registration cancelled and then re-apply with the correct PAN.
