You can submit your IT return on-line by following process.

1. GO TO https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/index.jsp

2. REGISTER AND CREATE USER (USERNAME AS YOUR PAN NO)

3. GO TO https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/individual_huf.do

4. DOWNLOAD ITR-1

5. FILL THE FORM

6. CHECK THE FORM

7. GENERATE BARCODE

8. GENERATE XLS AND SAVE ON YOUR SYSTEM

9. GO TO https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/login.do AND LOGIN AGAIN

10. CLICK ON SUBMIT RETURN.

11. UPLOAD XLS FILE.

12. CLICK ON UPLOAD.

Congratulations: YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR RETURN.

YOU CAN ALSO CHECK YOUR refund STATUS IF ANY.

But is digital signature necessay for filing e form?

not compulsory, if u dont have DS, u have to file the e-acknowledgement with IT dept. It is properly mentioned there in the site.

XLS means excel file

I am getting following error while e-filing ITR-4. Any help would be appreciated.

Errors during Upload of ITR Return

Internal Error.Please try after some time.

I have already tried several times.

Upload now. I faced the same problem in morning. Their system is back up now.

I uploaded ITR-2 successfully.
