Strange pan query!!

Please put the aanswers provided by them so that we can provide provide u better suggestions.

Once check with the know your pan in  income tax department site.

Please see whether you are selecting proper Major Head/ Tax Applicable while filling up the Tax Challan. If you are an individual and you are selectiong major head "Income Tax on Companies" (020), it will be rejected as invalid PAN. You should select Major Head/ Tax Applicable as "Income Tax (other than Companies) (021). 

I am asking you this because when you open the tax challan by default the head (020) might have been selected.

First check pan status from Income tax website... sometimes it may take time to update in database of income tax (afterall its Govt's work)
