Status of Branch of a Foreign Company

Hello Friends I have a query that is if a foerign company wants to open a branch in India then what can be the the possible legal forms of the entity e.g Company, LLP, Partnership, Proprietory Business etc. Again in that case as per Income tax Act what will be the status of the assessee e.g Individual, AOP, company etc. Can any body tell me the legal formalities related to this.
