I wish to know if SSI Exemption vide notification no. 8/2003 is available after excise registration.

Ya bro u regstr for excise whn ur T/O exceeds 150 L & if ur T/O in tht yr dont exceed 400 L thn u remain SSI for next yr. So u can claim SSI exemption

ya if turnover exceeds 150 lacs in current year then it is required to get registerd for paying liability. otherwise no need to register but if in last year turnoover exceeds 400 lacs then you can not claim ssi exemption in current year and you have to pay duty.
But you need to give DECLARATION when your aggregate value of clearance reaches 90 Lakhs
