an indian company sponsors an individual to study abroad . is it an allowable expenditure under the i.t.act .

there are some expenses which can be claimed under residual head u/s 37(1).
But you need to prove it strongly that such sponsership exp. pertains to official exp. and is must for the company.

the query raised is in very plain and simple language, which leaves a lot of scope for the law to intervene and make several consequent interpretations...........
first of all whether or not the individual is in any way connected with the company or business....whether it is for the purposes of business or not,........whether the study is higher or graduation level one,............and lot more.....
as Mr. Abhinav rightly pointed out that it may come under Sec.37(1) only and no other provision.........
A.O will not going to allow it on the basisi of only this much information, particular assertions as of it relates in any way or in any manner related to business will hve to be given........
