Hi,

I am a fulltime software developer with more than 15 years experience .

I want to do consulting in web programming. initially part time only. potential clients are abroad only.

Sometime other freelancers ask me for help when they want help desperately .

Sofar I helped them for free. but not anymore.

question is what registration I need to do for my sole proprietorship company that is home based.

do i need service tax registration given that potential clients are abroad only.

I have pancard,aadhar,address proof for home address. But I dont have an official street address for business.

I dont want to do business in my name .rather in my company name.

pls advise.

From your query I understand that you need a detailed advise on Starting your business.

For starting a sole proprietorship you dont need to register any where. but if you want to start a company you need to register registrar of companies and for that you will need the help of a CA or a CS. find any good CA or CS in your locality and they will guide you.

You need to take service tax registration only when your turnover crosses 9 Lakhs.

one point you need to note is that while getting income from a foreign country there arises an issue of Double taxation and you may be taxed at that country and India for same income. But you can claim for benefit for such tax deducted in other country subject to DTAA[double taxation avoidance agreement] with that country. So consult with a CA who deals with International taxation also.
