Dear learned friends,

Yesterday I received an SMS stating : attn. xxx, pan no. xxx, based on the information available with IT Dept, it appears that you were required file ITR for AY2021-22, but you have not filed. please file ITR etc. I am surprised as it belongs to my wife, who did not have any taxable income. When I looked at 26AS it shows an income of approx Rs.1.70 lakhs towards interest on senior citizen saving scheme + a little from life insurance matured amount. Is it required to file ITR or simply reply in compliance portal, which says non filing of ITR status pending. Kindly advise me. Thanks
