Kindly can somebody tell me when is the last date for filing service tax returns for the half year 31.03.2011.

25th April 2011, if not able to file then file something and later on can revise return.
If you are an Input service distributor then last date shall be within one month from the end of the half year.
25th April is the due date for filing the Return for the month of 31st march. The penalty for non-filing will be max Rs.20000 not Rs.2000

MR X IS AN ENGINEER AND IS STARTING A CONSTRUCTION FIRM. HIS ANNUAL TURNOVER WILL EXCEED THRESHOLD LIMIT. HE WILL PROVIDE INVOICE FOR THE TOTAL VALUE OF THE CONSTRUCTION i.e., WITHOUT SHOWING THE MATERIAL COST AND LABOUR COST.
WHAT IS THE TAXABLE VALUE FOR SUCH SERVICES. IS IT 65/35 OR 70/30 OR ANY CHANGE IN THE CURRENT BUDGET?
ANY EXEMPTION IS AVAILABLE IF HE GETS ORDER FROM SCHOOL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION OR ANY TRUST?
