We have to file the half yearly Service Tax return, but our auditor is telling that in October first week they will come for that work, I wanted to know what is the last date for Service tax half yearly return file. it is nil return Plz let me know whether there is any penalty for Late filing of NIL Service Tax Return .whether they file it in October 1st week .

& as u say there is no liability to pay... bt u hav to submit the nil return also

Last date of filing ST-3 is 25th October for the period April to Sep and 31st March for the period Oct to march.

FOR THE PERIOD OCTOBER TO MARCH THE LAST DATE IS 25th APRIL
PLEASE GO THROUG THE FOLLOWING RULE

Every assessee shall submit a half yearly return in From ‘ST-3’ or ‘ST-3A’, as the case may be, along with a copy of the Form TR-6, in triplicate for the months covered in the half-yearly return.

Every assessee shall submit the half yearly return by the 25th of the month following the particular half-year.
|
Due date for service tax return filing for the period april-september is 25th october. If the assessee is input service distributer, then it is 31st october.
Fees for delayed furnishing of returns is as under:
