Please clarify whether service tax is leviable on rent. If so which clause of the service tax rules mentions the same.

Earlier there was a judgment of high court which said that no service tax on rent. But in this budget this situation is clear and service tax has to be paid with a retrospective effect of the 2007 notification. Though this issue is challanged and pending before the Supreme Court.
