Is there any provision by which we could request the ST Department to grant us an extension of due date for filing returns and paying the liability on account of financial crisis of the assesse e and in general public interest. We have a liability exceeding 50 lacs and we havnt filed returns for more than 18 months. The WC capital cringe is primarily due payments made to the IT department to file an appeal against a notice for 3 crores. (we sure we ll win the case)

You can request ST officer to waive the penalty for delay filling of returns and late payment , but u need to pay interest for delayed payment as Interest could not be waived......
