Service tax excess challan paid in march 14

Dear All,

I have wrongally paid excess challan in 31st march 2014 under "maintainance or repair service" can I utilise this challan for April2014 month.

there is not mention Financial Year anywhere in challan, can this challan be consume for F.Y. 2014-15.

Yes, you can utilise the excess service tax amount in April14. However, I think year end provisions entries may be pending to passed. And there after may be no excess balance.

In many cases there provisional payment of service tax as in the case of EPC and also provisonal reversal of cenvat credit under rule 6 (3) of CCR . The adjustment in these case is allowed. So you are eleigble to take cnevat Credit of the same.

Thanks for your reply, one more query is that Intimation to department for advance challan payment is medetory or optional, should I have to inform to the department for advance payment.
