As per Notification 33/2012-ST dated 20.06.2012, upto gross billings of Rs. 10 lakhs service provider is need not charge service tax, at his own option. But, point to remember is that even aggregate value of taxable services in the preceeding financial year should not exceed Rs.10 lakhs to avail the exemption in the current year.

Further, One can not avail the CENVAT credit of duties or service tax paid on inputs, capital goods and input services.

No, No need to charge service tax without reaching a turnover of 10 Lakh.

As per Service tax registration is required when services reach upto 9 Lakh  and tax required to pay after reaching minimum threshold limit.

And when you will reach upto 10 Lakh limit then start charging service tax @ 8.7% (Rate w.e.f 15.11.2015) [(14% + .50%)*60%]

Thank you Mr. Uday Kumar for your reply.

Once you are registered, returns need to be filed half-yearly by 25th of subsequent month even though not charging service tax, showing entire gross recepts under the exemption.

Agree with  @ uday kumar

In service tax onece you registered whether you are providing taxable services or not, whether under exemption limit or not you have to file service tax return on half yearly basis.

In your case by showing gross reciepts under the exemption .

Thanks for the solutins.
