Why is there such a huge difference between the value of Sens*x and the value of Nifty?

Hey, It's because their base indexes are different. Sens*x is the index of Bombay Stock Exchange whose base index was taken as 1000...whereas Nifty is the index of National stock exchange the base index of which was taken as 100.
isnt it the reverse?
