better is go through P. C. Tulsian's Book for accounting.

As u said you are from science background......first refer accounts Class xi and xii NCERT books ( though u have doubts--just go through)

for cpt point of view and concept  wise....Go through PC tulsian ( best book for self study)....if u still feel difficult ...it is recommended  to attend a good coaching class,
