Duplication of Interest on SCSS deposits in postoffice

Tax queries 1222 views 5 replies

Postoffice has deducd TDS on Interest on SCSS and the same is reflected in 26AS and in AIS under "Income from Deposits". But it is also shown as Income from Others in AIS by CPRC, Chennai thereby doubling it in Gross income in AIS.

I gave Correction Feedback in Other income in AIS option as "income duplicate"  but it is not considered so far. So, I have to Pay incometax twice, I request for Guidance on what next step I should take?

The feedback will be corrected provided income is from single/same account. If the income is from two different account (though not possible) but verify it.

If same account, you just report interest as reported by PO and claim its TDS. No need to worry for second reporting & the TDS...

Thank you sir for the clarification.

Both the income are from the same/single account only.

As you have already filed feedback as -'Duplicate entry'; your liability is over. Good luck...
