Second Property - Self Occupied

Efiling 274 views 2 replies

My husband has purchased a flat this financial year from his own funds. The registry has been done in January 2023. TDS has been deducted @ 1% on the total purchase price and deposited with the Income Tax Deptt. and is duly reflected in Form 26AS. We have yet to find a customer for our existing house. The work of Interiors is still in progress at the flat and is expected to last for 2-3 more months. My querries are:-

1. How to show this transaction in ITR2 &

2. Whether any relief from LTCG will be available when we sell our existing house (In the name of my husband}.

Replies (2)
1.as of now there's no requirement to show purchase transaction in ITR
2.yes, you can claim deduction under section 54 with respect to sale of existing house if the same is sold within 1 years from the date of purchase of new property

Thank You Sir, But TDS is being reflected in Form 26 AS as well as in AIS.
