u can refer to the local newspapers....there are may training centres for SAP ranging from about 30,000-2 lacs....the best is Siemens...but the costliest too!

how imp is sap training?when is the right time to take the classes for a ca student?is it before articleship or during?

SAP training is quite important for CAs. But I would suggest that only hands on training would be of much help in understanding the concepts easily. Merely reading the course materials would not be of much use as one might forget the concepts in case of lack of practical training...

So may be during your articleship final year u can join for industrial training in companies which run on SAP and get yourself trained. Merely attending the course is of no use. Dont waste money before knowing the basics.

Good that u taught about SAP wile pursuing CA.
But as gayathri said its too early to think about SAP training before knowing the basics....
In SAP u can expertise in various domains
1. ABAB
2. BASIS expert
3. Configuration expert
4. Functional Consultant, etc

Functional Consultant again breaks up into many granules like
Financials
Quality
Production
Sales and Distribution,etc...

Of these ABAB , configuration and BASIS are technical....

Functonal consultancy and a bit of configuration are the domains which best suits a CA

CA's can expertise on other technical areas also...But not many prefers that.....

Any one who dream about a career in SAP should First decide the area of expertise..
then decide about training institute....

But best way to get trained in SAP is to join a company which runs SAP( as gayathri said).  it will save few lakhs and the knowledge u get will also be comparitively on the higher side.

U may take articleship with some big firms having one or two big clients working os SAP from there also U can learn operating SAP, as I had learn't.

Dear Friend,

It is very important for a CA student to have SAP knowledge. More so of the Front end part. The back end course is convinient for those students who are doing hard core software courses.  Better to join a CA Firm which is having clients running on SAP. First have hands on training of all the business processes of the client. Next is to have insight into how the same has been moduled. Next is how all the business processes are linked. This is basically a Front end knowledge to begin with. Once you go through this initial phase then decide on fields of expertise.

Currently, there is wide scope for Finance People in FICO, but for good placement in inplemention of SAP in a company, one must have some domain expenerince. So i would suggest you to go through the business processes during your articleship and it will help you a make a carrer in this line. You may join SAP course immediately after your C.A. Final exams.

if any one is planning for SAP Course, please do it from a recognised institute like Seimens, Genovate or SAP Education Services.
If you take course from any other institute, the companies dont give it much recognisition.
