In my opinion ,it is purely a case of inefficiency of the dept.They are sending recovery notices based on incomplete data migrated.They should take back these notices on their own.They are wasting our money,for their in efficiency and also causing lot of mental torture to sincere assessees.Leading news papers like ECO Times should take this matter for discussion so that there will be action from the dept.If you want to reply the question arises ,as to whom to address it?and how u will know about the fate of such reply.Better course of action is to write a letter to the assessing officer explaining the mistake noticed by you & keep the acknowledged copy of the letter in your file .Even the department is aware of this mistake then "why delay from dept.in taking remedial action "is the real question.
