Rupee Symbol

This year, just about a month before the Independence Day, the Indian rupee joined the likes of international currencies like Dollar, Euro, the Pound sterling and Japanese Yen, by having a unique symbol. This Indian rupee symbol ,  is an elegant, simple and brilliant combination of Sanskrit Ra and English R, without the stem. The Indian rupee which is the original rupee, dates back to centuries and historians believe the name derives from the Sanskrit word “rupyakam”.
