Return processing is in progress what is meaning

i filed my itr on 30/07/2020 and revised the same on 01/08/2020. It was successfully e-verified both times and even bank account prevalidation is completed. Still my ITR is not processed, since 03/12/2020 status is "return processing is in progress".why so?

same case with me, I filed revised return on 17Nov and still it is shown in "processing in progress" status. How much time it took for you for refund? Thanks in advance

It means forget about it and don't bother us; we will do our job when we're in the mood. It can be anywhere from a week to over a year.

(I filed my FY 19-20 return in July 2020 and it was processed in August 2021, with the refund paid a few days after the intimation)

It means that the tax authorities are currently reviewing and working on your tax return to verify its accuracy and completeness.
