Resident or Non-Resident Status while Studying Abroad.

I am doing my (two years regular PG program) M.Sc from Skovde University , Sweden. I went to Sweden for Study on student visa on 19 Aug 2020. What will be my resident status for Corrent Assessment year 2021-22 and next year in my IT Return.

This discussion clarifies resident status for Indian IT returns for individuals studying abroad. It explains how days spent in India versus overseas impact your classification as a resident or non-resident for tax purposes. Key factors include the number of days present in India during the relevant financial year and previous years.

April -30 days
may-31
june-30
July -31
August 19
Total 141 days
which is exceeding 60 days.
you will be resident(u/s 6(1) if you were present in India during the 4 previous year immediately preceding the p.y 2020-21 for a period of 365 days or more.

condition of 6(6) will have to be checked in order to determine whether you were ROR or RNOR
2021-2022 - You are Not an Ordinary Resident.

You are in India For 182 days or more in relevant Previous Year.
