Sub: Request to give your inputs on inclusion of PAN details of members in ICAI database
As we all are aware, every practicing Chartered Accountant is required to get himself registered on the E-filing portal for submission of various reports prescribed by the Income-tax Act, 1961. For the said purpose, ICAI shares certain limited database with the E-filing website.
With regard to the same, the Direct Taxes Committee of ICAI frequently receives queries from members seeking solution to issues faced by them while registering on Income-tax Website. These administrative issues are generally followed up and are resolved on urgent basis.
In the recent past, certain issues were reported, where the members had successfully registered themselves with wrong Membership registration number with same date of enrolment. The issues were followed up with the Department and were resolved.
Since this issue was a matter of concern, therefore a view has been taken that the ICAI should provide the details of PAN of the members in the ICAI database so as to enforce the correct validations.
In order to further strengthen the validation systems and to avoid day to day hassles, PAN of the members is proposed to be captured in ICAI database. The issue is under consideration of the Council.
