I had bought a LED TV in May 2016 which had a technical fault. The manufacturer accepted the fault and agreed to a New Replacement unit against this purchase. They are charging me 10935.31 in total towards CGST and SGST. The actual cost of the unit shown prior GST implication is 39054.69
My original purchase was of 44003/-
Am i liable to pay the 10935.31 towards GST as it is a replacement for my original purchase. I don't find it logically correct but not sure of the same. Please advice as the TV set falls under 28% slab and if the GST is replaced with the earlier excise duty @ 16% + 4% sales Tax i still would save 8% which is a huge amount for a Middle Class person like me.
Please advice if i should Agrue this with the Store Staff.
