Rent received in cash.

Whether rent of ₹24000 per month can be received in cash from single party by owner of property. Rent agreement has been executed but the mode of payment (i.e. in cash or through bank) not mentioned in such agreement. Now tenant want to pay rent in cash so can owner receive rent in cash ₹24000 per month (₹ 288000 per annum) ?

Quick Summary
This discussion explores the legality of receiving a monthly rent of ₹24,000 in cash. While the rent agreement doesn't specify the payment method, receiving such a sum annually could attract penalties under Section 269ST. The implications, particularly regarding GST for commercial properties and invoice requirements, are also considered.

Property is commercial or residential ?
Its not matter cash or bank

if you register with gst you should issue gst invoice if tenant also registered then 24k + gst

otherwise you need to contact tenant and said that 24k + gst bill required to pay...
I don't think same applies for residential
