Rent agreement for partnership firm

One of my client a partnership firm wants to take a premises on lease for business purpose.

The landlord is demanding the copy of partnership deed and copy of pan card before signing the rent agreement.

Can landlord legally demand such documents?

If not how can landlord get assurance about identity of firm and its partenrs?
