There is no such specific requirement for registration of propriter . But at the same time if he will come under any specific regulation he has to fulfill (like registrain for service tax ) open a current a/c in the name of business

Sole proprietorship needs no registration. Registration depends on the various acts applicable to it.

actually sole propietorship needs no registration bt if it is registered it may enjoy several benifits. i sugeest its bettar to register it . it doesnt involve long procedure. ur registrationn process may b completed within a week.

No registration required as proprietorship. But, there are several Acts that may applicable to him like ESI/PF/PT/Service Tax etc., Further, he may have to get TAN and should get PAN.

I am a freelance translator and want to open a Sole Proprietorship. Service Tax and VAT does not apply. Bank is not ready to open a current account without a proof for the company. They suggest I register my company. Is that possible? What is the procedure?

Where can one find all the laws pertaining to a new sole proprietorship firm? like how to get it registered, if one does, whether sales tax and VAT are applicable etc etc. My business is online, selling diff. genre of books. Thats all... Any replies are appreciated...

I am a salaried person and recently opened a proprietorship firm and got it registered it with the local authoritity. I am providing Engineering & Technical Consultancy Services alongwith continuing with my salaried job since Dec'10,2008. I will be having 2 no of employees. I want to get advice on what books shall I maintain so as to have a neat and clean records and maximim tax benifits. Also I want to know if I require any other registrations.
