We are not for profit organizagtion and giving training. We applied for service tax registration almost 2 months ago. So far we did not get any registration. As per Rules it will take only 7 days to get registration certificate. Called the department for many times, but they are telling silly reasons like Commissioner changed etc. To whom we should contact? where we should complain regarding this.
Draft a letter addressing assistant commissioner of service tax asking about the registration certificate while mentioning date of filing the ST 1 Form and attching the copy of the receipt.
If even after all this you get no response from them , then file an RTI application.
But before all this make a personal visit to your range and enquire the same from the PR officer there.

you no need to wait for department registration certificate. you will get the ST2 copy to your mail id or login to www.aces.gov.in. you can generate the ST2, take print, contact Asst. Commissioner, they will sign and give it to you.

You can also try tracking your registration through your PAN number on the departments website.
If reg number is genrated you can use it and can ask for certificate.
