Yesterday our result was declared, but my result is withheld by our Institute. I got mail from Institute, they mentioned the reason for withheld my result, reason is I wrote my R,oll No SRO No & Name on the 1st page of the additional answer sheet ( i.e supplementary ), but actually I don't remember what actually I wrote. If I wrote like that I agree it's my mistake. If mistake is happen there will be any solution is available na.

So yesterday I replied to that mail, I didn't mistake deliberately, so please let me know the my result. Even yesterday I called many times to Institute but they didn't pick up the call.

Now I am very confusing regards to the result.

Please suggest me anyone, what can I do in this case. Approx when I will get reply from Institute?? Is there any way to get clarify regards to this soon.

Hi Vishwanath,

Thank you for explaining your situation — it’s understandable to feel confused and anxious when your IPCC result is withheld, especially for something like this.

Let’s go through your issue and what you can realistically expect.

⚠️ Why Your Result Is Withheld

As per ICAI's exam rules:

Candidates must NOT write their name, roll number, or registration number anywhere in the answer books or supplementary sheets except in the space provided on the main answer booklet.

You’ve received a notice stating that your result is withheld because you wrote your Roll No/SRO No/Name on the first page of the additional answer sheet — which is treated as a violation of anonymity rules.

Even if you don't remember doing it, ICAI considers this a disciplinary issue, and they follow a standard process before releasing results in such cases.

What You Did Right

  • You replied to their email, accepting the possibility that it was an honest mistake.

  • You also stated that it was not done deliberately — that's very important.

  • Trying to contact them via call is also correct (though response times are slow).

📌 What Happens Next?

Here’s typically what follows:

1. Review by ICAI Disciplinary/Examination Department

They will examine your case:

  • Whether it looks like an innocent mistake

  • Whether there are any repeated violations

2. Result Will Be Released (or Action Taken)

Based on your response, most first-time, minor violations (like writing roll number on the supplement) are treated leniently, and your result is released with a warning.

🕒 Timeframe: It usually takes 1 to 3 weeks for ICAI to respond and release the result (sometimes sooner if the issue is straightforward).

✅ What You Should Do Now

✉️ Step 1: Follow-Up Email (if you haven’t done this after 24–48 hours)

Send a polite reminder email to the same address from which you got the notice.

Sample Subject Line:
Re: Clarification Regarding Withheld Result - Roll No XXXXXXX

Body Example:

Respected Sir/Madam, This is with reference to the email I received regarding the withholding of my IPCC result due to an alleged violation of exam guidelines. I sincerely apologize if I inadvertently wrote my Roll No/SRO No/Name on the additional answer sheet. I did not do this deliberately, and I request you to kindly consider this as an unintentional error. I humbly request you to review my case and kindly release my result. Please let me know if any further clarification is needed from my side. Thanking you in advance. Sincerely, [Your Full Name] [Roll Number] [Reg. Number / SRO No] [Mobile Number]

☎️ Step 2: Contact ICAI Regional Office (Follow Up via Phone)

  • If central lines are busy, try contacting your ICAI regional office (SIRC, WIRC, EIRC, NIRC) — they often respond better to local calls.

  • You may also try reaching out via ICAI's Self Service Portal (SSP) if you have access.

🛑 What NOT to Do:

  • Don’t panic or keep calling repeatedly — wait at least 3 working days between follow-ups.

  • Don’t resend the same email multiple times — it may delay your case.

✅ What’s the Likely Outcome?

Based on past cases:

  • If this is your first mistake, ICAI usually releases the result with a caution/warning.

  • If there’s no other misconduct, you’ll likely get your result soon, once they process the explanation.
