Sir I cleared IPCC Group 1 in May '14 and Group2 in Nov '14. I was always told that doing Articleship in a bigger firm is beneficial as compared to smaller firms. I have always been keen on learning various aspects and work of an article student to excel in our field. Unfortunately I could not get into any bigger firm and have to settle down for a small firm in Kolkata. Please tell me will it make any difference to my career. Really worried and upset. Thank You.

Hey Kumar Firstly there is nothing to be upset about. If you wanted to learn various aspects and get exposure in all field before u decide what you want to work in for a longer period then joining a smaller or mid sized firm is the best. Definitely you will miss the brand value of the big firms but not to worry with hard work and enough exposure and learning and clearing ca final in 1st attempt should pave your way to a better future. cheers

Yes most definitely infact i have done my training in a mid size firm and have amassed thorough knowledge in the field of indirect taxes and working knowledge in most other departments. There are a few things in which u cannot compete with big firms like brand value..exposure to sap environment..but if you are thorough in your field then these things can be picked up post qualification.
