A person has filed return on 4.10.2009 (non auditable case). and has not received refund yet.Is there any need to send letter to incometaxdepartment to claim refund??(refund of RS 5000)

You should wait at least for six months from the end of the financial year in which the return is filed i.e. till 30th Sept 2010 in your case.
I think for AY 2009-10 ,the refund will start from 01.04.2010,so you can easily get through ur bank account if u did not get u show ur ackdg certificate to IT department for claimimg refund
u shud wait till 01.04.2010 and then u can visit concerned ito.
