Quick Summary
This discussion addresses how to rectify an Income Tax Return (ITR) when tax payment details were omitted from the XML file during submission, leading to a demand notice. The recommended procedure involves logging into your account, selecting the 'I have paid tax correctly' option, and providing the correct challan details. It's clarified that a full rectification request or re-filing the ITR is generally not necessary if the demand is based on a simple omission of payment proof.
Do you have the downloaded receipt receipt with you if yes log in to your account and choose a reason (expect demand is correct ) as per the situation and give the receipt as proof and other details
Login into your account, select the action pending, choose the option I have paid tax correctly and fill the correct detail of your challan. don't choose any other option otherwise it might lead to interpretation and interest can be levied.
Sonam you do not hv to fill your details in X M L file. however, things are pretty clear. you hv to fill up the the date alongwith details of amount with challan number and others. After filling up all the details you hv to validate all the sheets. Any errors has to be negated. Then you hv to generate the X M L file after that upload X M L.
