Real operational bottlenecks after firms use Tally, ClearTax, GST portal, or other filing tool

I am researching how small and mid-sized CA firms manage client work during ITR and GST filing periods.

I am not selling a product. I am trying to understand the real operational bottlenecks after firms use Tally, ClearTax, Webtel, GST portal, or other filing tools.

For a typical client file, which tasks still consume the most manual effort?

  1. Collecting missing documents from clients
  2. Reading bank statements, Form 16, AIS/26AS, broker reports, or GST registers
  3. Preparing workpapers before CA review
  4. Following up for clarifications and approvals
  5. Tracking staff ownership and filing readiness
  6. Resolving GST or tax-data mismatches
  7. Something else

It would be especially helpful to know which work is still managed through Excel, WhatsApp, email, or shared folders—and why the existing software does not solve it well.

Quick Summary
A researcher asked CA firms about the biggest manual bottlenecks that remain after using Tally, GST and tax filing software. Areas of interest include document collection, data validation, workpaper preparation, client follow-ups, mismatch resolution, and workflow tracking.

Are you from https://lumiq.ai/ ?  If Yes, can you let us know what exactly you guys are offering ? Thanks

Hi Aashok,

no, I am not affiliated with lumiq.ai. I am from a technology and operations background and am doing independent research before defining any offering.

At this stage, I am not promoting or selling a product. I am trying to understand the manual, document-heavy work that CA firms still handle after using existing tools such as Tally, Excel, GST software, or filing platforms—for example document collection, data validation across files, workpaper preparation, exception review, client follow-ups, and approval tracking.

The intention is not to replace CA judgment or build another generic GST filing tool. I am exploring whether technology can reduce the repetitive preparation work so CAs can spend more time on review and advisory work.

I would genuinely value your perspective on which recurring tasks still consume the most staff time in your practice.
