Query related to GST paid

Rules 351 views 8 replies

Hello

We are a manpower service provider and we had raised invoice to a client for a placement of candidate 2 months bk. Candidate has left this month and as per agreement client will not pay us the invoiced amount.

However we have already paid the GST for the invoice raised in last year return.

How do we claim the paid gst now?

Thank you!

Hi Mackie,
You can raise a credit note with GST to the customer and report is your return. In that way you are reversing the liability already paid.
Thanks,

Thank you for the super quick reply Bhavana!
could you pls also guide about filing this credit note in return? Do I just need to enter the credit note details in the gstr1? Any changes in 3b filing? Also, any deduction to be made in total taxable value while filing return?
thank you for help!

Hi Mackie,
You are welcome. You have to show details of credit note in both GSTR 1 and 3B. And this will be reduced from total tax liability of that reporting month.
If more clarification required, you mail send a mail to bhavana @ lbkca.in.
Thanks,

Thanks again Bhavana! Very nicely explained.

What if in subsequent months there is no tax liability ??
NP Mackie,
Hi Namrata,
In case credit notes are more than tax invoices in any particular month, then the credit notes can be reported in GSTR 1 of the same month and report it in 3B in the month when there is a tax liability.
Hope this clarifies.
Thanks

hi bhavana,

just realised that the invoice is of October month of which I have included and filed in gstr1 this month. I will have to file gstr3b and make payment. As the invoice is cancelled is it possible to amend the filed gstr1 and not make the payment in 3b? Or is it I will have to pay the gst in 3b and raise a credit note only.

Isnt the 3b automatically calculated based on filled gstr1? So I guess if I put the credit note in gstr1 then the total taxable value and tax liability is auto calculated and goes down in 3b. Pls correct if my understanding is wrong.
