Query regarding approach to ipcc audit

Friends I am an ipcc student . The institute has issued two study materials for auditing,namely :

Auditing and assurance
Standards on auditing(auditing pronouncements)

First book is OK but second book seems to be tough. Is it necessary to study the second material? or Are the portions of the second material has already been covered in the first one?? I am confused. Can I get 70+ marks by studying first material and practice manual thoroughly?? can any one please help me to solve this dilema??

Dear friend, the auditing pronouncement book contains bare text of standards on auditing. Yes it is tough to interpret but it will be awesome if develop the habit of reading such material as it improves your interpretation skills and in CA you will come across such things frequently in future. However keeping in view that you are at IPCC level it is recommend that you should refer the material issued by Institute and a good reference book(recommended). Best of luck
