Hello . I read that a student in articleship training can select the training in either of the two filelds i.e. audit or tax. On what basis either of them should be selected ? And if i select for tax , then later on would i be trained for audit as well ?

there is no hard and fast rule that either you be in tax or be in a audit.
it is your wish and availability of the position in the tax or audit dept. selection criteria is your liking towards subject.
if you are going for bigger firm then it is better you select on your choice , i mean what you like whether tax or audit.
if you are going for middle level and small level firm then you will get mix exposure, ACcounts, tax, audits, finance. etc ....

take a firm in which you can learn both the things....if you are going in bigger firm always this situation happens... select a firm where you can learn all the things and there are still many good firms where you can join and learn those things...in bigger firms you have to do mostly vouching and there is no use of it...
