Dear Seniors & Friends,

I am a CA Final student and shall write my exam in coming Nov. I have been using Sir V Pattabhi Ram's book for MAFA. He has explained the concepts brilliantly due to which I could understand the subject with much ease but the grouping of the chapters is very different as compared to the chapters mentioned in the Institute material due to which I'm very perplexed regarding three things: 1. Have I to ignore the institute material? 2. Or preparation needs to be done covering both the books3. Is there any different book covering theory of MAFA or is this one sufficient for exams?

therefore, pls guide which chapters are to be prepared exclusively from the Institute module because some of the chapters mentioned in the Institute Module have not been covered in Pattabhirma Sirs Book.  It'll be a great help because as on date after studying from Sir's book, though I am clear about the concepts which have been explained in very lucid manner still whenever I open the Institute module i feel very perplexed in trying to co relate the topics . Please guide.

Regards.

The book you are following is an excellent book Shefali. I was greatly benefited by his book. It helped me to clear many doubts I had on this subject. I strongly suggest you stick to this book. There are ample practical problems there. You should also refer to scanner for problems and theory alike. Don't get confused. You are on the right track!

Dear Shefali,

Please don't ignore the study material of ICAI.Refer the same for topics of theory.

Secondly book you are following is excellent book.

If you wish to refer some another book then please solve the problems from the notes of Makkar's classes. These notes are sufficient for theory concept as well as for practical problems.

Solution for the problems mentioned in these notes is also available. You can get the same from Delhi.

Thanks Kaustuv and Mandeep.

I too attended a tuition class where the sir used Pattabhi sir's book and to be honest, i did not use the study material for the practical problems part. I just used it for the theory part.

If you have exhausted Pattabhi sir's book, then just try working out some problems given in the study material. There have been cases where problems for the exam have been lifted straight out of the study material, and in case that happens for your exam, you dont want to lose out on that.

One final tip for Problem papers like Accounts and MAFA: No matter how many different kind of problems you work out, there can be a new kind of twist awaiting you in the exam hall. So, be thorough on the basics, and just get a grip on the general approach we need to adopt to tackle different kind of problems. The rest is all left to us at the time of writing the exam.

All the best.

Mr Mandeep singh if you have Mr Rajesh Makkars notes soft copy can u upload the same

1. Never ignore Modules

2. For MAFA old Book (problems and solutions) by Shridhar is best.

3. Dont leave any chapters in option it will cost badly having regard to the fact that paper of MAFA is not predictable.

my suggestion is to read pattabhi sir's notes and refer Book of A.N.SRIDHAR

this book is a excellent book for mafa

iam ca final student. As per the discussion here for mafa pattabhiram is the best. please give the full details about the author

 Hi,

Pattabhi Sir book is out of bounds ,I cant follow.I am following Saravan Prasath Sir s book and suggested.

I too can advise people not to join Prime as it is too crowded and un hygiene and difficult to concentrate on the class.

RAJESH MAKKAR'S buk is the best for practical n the theory part. i hd prepared frm dis buk only n found it really gud, so i wl suggest u to go for this only.

HI,

Even i feel for MAFA join  gurukripa or some other institute but not pattabis class

if any one have soft copy of material for ca final old course than pleas send me my mail id is

I had studied James Van C Horne book for MAFA but not done any practicals....Also that book was not so much clearer to me....I had also tried Makkar but leave it after 3 days as the concepts there were totally unambiguous....Can u guys help me out whether an additional 60-70 hours would be sufficient for pattabhi in addition to above book... During revision, i would refer to the practice modules of ICAI for MAFA for 5 days.... So , guys pl guide me for MAFA books as regards pattabhi size or something else Regards, Maneesh
