my client company (having head office in Gujarath) has paid professional tax of its employees working in plant(factory) situated at Karnataka. but kanataka department has sent notice to karnataka plant demanding professional tax of employees working in karntaka plant. Can be done in this regard? please help me.
Yes you have to register and pay the profeessional tax under "Karnataka Tax On Proffessions,Traders,Calling Employments Act-1976" if employees are working in karnataka as slabs given below.
On gross Salary
Not Less than Rs.10000 ------Rs.150/-PM per employee
Rs.15000 and Above------------Rs.200/- PM per Employee
