U can be a director of a company subject to

1. U should be a non executive director

2. U should apply and obtain permission from the Council of the Institute

3. permission is normally granted only if it is proved that u are a director in a family business and that vacating the office can jeopardise ur interests in the family business.

Do apply and get permission before u get appointed as director or at the time of registration of articles if ur are already a director
