PROBLEM IN FILING ST3 RETURN

Dear Lalit Ji, I have asked this problem with a snapshot of error in on-line to aceshelpdesk team;

they have given solution to above problem other wise use OLD Excel offline utility (search for that file in this forum,  recently I enclosed it).

If the Notification Number 1/2006-ST is not appearing in the  drop down box,  then kindly select 13/2008-ST and proceed further.

I don't know whether this topic is still opened. But here is the typical solutions

I asked this query to service tax help desk many times but I don't get any satisfactory respond. As if there is any mistake we may have to file another or  penalty. So I discover this great idea. I know this is not a valid idea but still. Please do it on your own risk but it is very simple too.

well... select any notification which show over there and continue.... I think there is no any issue in this.

On the last page (sheet) of excel utility 'validate Return and submit' click that and it will create a xml file in the same directory where the excel utility is there.

once you locate the file (SERVICETAXNO_DATE.XML FILE)(eg. ABCDE1234AST001_03-01-2012.xml)

double click on it. It will open in notepad or it will ask :

windows cannot open this file. what do you want to do? then select 'select the program from a list' and select notepad or wordpad (both are available in any windows)

then ctrl+F  or Edit Tab and Find (find command)

write 'Notification' in the text area and search it. You will find something 
<NOTIFICATION-NUMBER>13/2002-S.T.</NOTIFICATION-NUMBER> 

I select 13/2002-S.T.

Change it to your desired correct notification No. 01/2006--S.T. and save it.

Now when you upload it will show the correct notification No.
