To carry forward a capital loss, you must have declared it in your ITR for the year the loss occurred, filed by the original due date (Section 139(1)). If you missed it, you generally cannot carry it forward. Your only potential path is to file a Revised Return if the deadline for that year has not yet passed; otherwise, it is unlikely you can claim the loss now, as an Updated Return (ITR-U) cannot be used to report losses. Please consult a tax professional for a formal assessment of your filings.
