1. Is dividend on preference shares subject to dividend distribution tax u/s 115-O of Income Tax Act, 1961?
2. Does the definition of dividend u/s 2(22) of Income Tax Act, 1961 covers preference shares dividend?

Dear Mr. Raman,
Dividend on prefrence share shall be covered by section 2(22)(a) and hence DDT as per 115O is applicable.
